Waikiki Hotel Celebrates With Community This Christmas Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa tree inspired by Hawaiian Chant of Creation

Mahalo Nui Loa!!

HONOLULU, HI -- (Marketwired) -- 12/13/13 -- Hawaii might not be the first place that comes to mind when thinking about Christmas -- after all, the state offers beautiful beaches rather than falling snow -- and while the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa is celebrating with a festive tree, it's also making sure to put a local twist on this time-honored tradition.

The theme of the Christmas tree at this Waikiki beachfront hotel : www.marriott.com/hotels/hotel-information/travel/hnlmc-waikiki-b .. was inspired by Queen Liliuokalani's 1897 English translation of the Kumulipo, or Hawaiian Chant of Creation. According to the chant, the world was created in 16 Wa, or periods, beginning with the first Wa and the evolution of the ocean and its sea life.

The theme of this Honolulu resort's tree is illustrated in the ornaments, which focus on the creatures of the ocean and include starfish, sea urchin, limpet, crab, eel, fish, sea turtle, octopus, mermaid, seahorse and jellyfish.
